Early Preschool, Preschool & Prekindergarten Programs
Our Early Preschool, Preschool, and Prekindergarten programs are thoughtfully designed to support children’s growth through developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences that foster curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.
Age Eligibility
To ensure alignment with Merrimack School District age requirements, children must meet the following age cutoffs:
-
Preschool: Children must turn 3 years old by September 30 of the current school year
-
Prekindergarten: Children must turn 4 years old by September 30 of the current school year
These guidelines allow for consistency in developmental expectations and smooth transitions into kindergarten.
Curriculum Approach
Our educators implement a thematic and emergent curriculum, thoughtfully designed to reflect both educational goals and children’s natural interests. Curriculum begins with broad, meaningful learning topics, which educators map out using curriculum webs. These webs are then expanded and deepened based on children’s questions, ideas, and engagement—allowing learning to evolve organically and remain highly relevant. All lessons and activities are carefully aligned with the New Hampshire Early Learning Standards and implemented using best practices in early childhood education, ensuring both academic readiness and whole-child development.
Daily Learning Flow
Rather than following a rigid schedule, children move through a daily learning guide. While the order of daily experiences remains consistent, the length of each activity is flexible and responsive. This approach honors children’s engagement and allows educators to extend learning when interest and exploration are high—without interrupting meaningful experiences.
Learning Through Play
Children learn best through hands-on, play-based experiences. Our classrooms offer rich opportunities for exploration, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, supporting cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development.
Organized, Purposeful Classrooms
Classrooms are intentionally maintained to be clean, inviting, and well-organized, helping children understand that everything has a purpose and a place. This structured yet welcoming environment supports independence, responsibility, and respect for shared learning spaces. Our Early Preschool, Preschool, and Prekindergarten programs provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning—balancing structure with flexibility, guidance with independence, and academic growth with joyful discovery.
